Obituary for Jeffery Lee Dunavin

In Loving Memory:Obituaries August 25, 2024 - Smokey Barn News (7)Jeffery Lee Dunavin, age 60, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, died Friday, August 23rd, 2024, at his residence.

He was born August 21st, 1964, in Redding, California, to the late Claude Oliver and Margaret Collins Dunavin. He was a retired pipe fitter for GM and was an avid UT baseball, football and basketball fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Constance Cheek Dunavin, and brother, Wayne “Bub” Dunavin.

He is survived by one daughter, Haley Blaylock of White House, TN, one son, Christopher Dunavin of Spring Hill, TN, and one sister, Teri Baird of Springfield, TN.

Her wishes were to be cremated, and no services are scheduled at this time.

Wanda was born November 25, 1947, in Springfield, to the late Cooper and Lillie McCully Parrigin. She was a graduate of Springfield High School, was a homemaker, and was of the Baptist faith. Wanda enjoyed swimming, reading, going to the beach, and especially spending time with her grand and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Franklin Henson.

Sharon was born February 2, 1963, in Springfield. She was a graduate of East Robertson High School and was a member of Cross Plains United Methodist Church. Sharon worked many years for Life & Casualty Insurance in Nashville. She loved animals, especially her dogs and pet rabbits. She was preceded in death by her father: Robert D. “Donnie” Barry, and by her son: Christopher Rye.

In Loving Memory:Obituaries August 25, 2024 - Smokey Barn News (20)Christine Stark, 86, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday August 17, 2024, at her home.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday August 22nd at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor David Royalty officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Ricky Brown, Glenn Brown, Jay Vivrette, Brian Vivrette, Shane Vivrette, Joe Brown, and Gary Brown serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Christine was born July 11, 1938, in Nashville, to the late James and Elvia Taylor Vivrette. She was a graduate of Joelton High School Class of 1956. Christine retired from Acme Boot with 27 years of service. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Springfield, and she attended Joelton First Baptist Church. Christine was a member of the Night Owls Club, and she enjoyed gardening and cooking, was an excellent seamstress, and loved spending time with her grand and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Wayne Stark, by her brothers: James Lanius and Randall Vivrette, and by her sisters: Elizabeth Brown, Ann Clinard, and Janie Vivrette.

In Loving Memory:Obituaries August 25, 2024 - Smokey Barn News (25)Betty Jean Thweatt Molnar, 83, of Cunningham, passed from this life on Wednesday August 14, 2024, at Vantage Pointe Village in Ashland City.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday August 28th at 11:00 a.m. in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with Tim Harris officiating. Pallbearers will be Brock Simon, Jerry (J) Edwards, John Ponzio, Marc Simon, Aaron Watson, Gary Carpenter. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Betty was born April 29, 1941, in Memphis, to the late Luther Lloyd and Mary Frances Thomas Lynn Thweatt. She retired as a cash office specialist at Target and was of the Methodist faith. Betty was a lady of many talents. She enjoyed vintage doll making, paper tole, was an ultimate party planner, and always came up with the best party games, if an opportunity arose to dress up in costume, she was in it to win it, and was usually the life of the party. Betty was a decorating extraordinaire, especially at Christmas time. She loved dancing and couldn’t sit still when the music started playing. At her senior home, Betty was affectionately known as The Hat Lady and was one of the “Golden Girls” at Vantage Pointe Village. Betty loved to help others and would strike up a conversation with a stranger. She had a great love for her family, friends, and animals, and loved them with all of her heart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years: William John Molnar, by her brother: Luther “Jitter” Thweatt, and by her sister: Elizabeth Carson. Shirley Ann Lassiter, 82, of Greenbrier, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Born April 6, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Willis Dyer Pairs, Sr. and Elsie M. Feltz Pairs. A dedicated and hard-working individual, Shirley was known for her remarkable talent as a seamstress, a skill she lovingly passed down to her daughter, Lori. Her craftsmanship not only brought joy to those around her but also created legacies in the form of cherished garments and heartfelt memories.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, John Franklin Lassiter, Jr.; son Jamie Lassiter; grandson Tyler Lassiter; siblings Mildred Parks, Willis Pairs, Jr., Barbara Denson, and Mary Carter.

Shirley is survived by her beloved family. She was the mother of Timothy (Jenny) Lassiter, Lori Ann (Danny) Pulley, and Wendy (Joe) Crowell, who each carry forward the values she instilled in them throughout their lives. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, including Dustin Lassiter, Johnathan (Cassie) Lassiter, Jessica (Kyle) Vaughn, Jeffery Pearson, Katie Pearson, Colton (Victoria) Lassiter, Quint Lassiter, and Mackenzie Crowell. Shirley was also a proud great-grandmother to Allie, Bentley, Lakelynn, Bryce, Grayson, Charlye, Harlow and Carolyn, bringing immense joy and love to her life even in her later years.

She also leaves behind her cherished siblings, Dot Smith, James (Alice) Pairs, daughter-in-law Kelli Lassiter, as well as her brother-in-law Billy Parks and sister-in-law Brenda Pairs, all of whom she held dear.

A Celebration of Life followed on Saturday, August 24, 2024, beginning at 12:00 PM and concluding at 1:00 PM at the same location. The family welcomed friends and visitors two hours prior to the funeral on Saturday. Burial followed in White House Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dustin Lassiter, Johnathan Lassiter, Buddy Pearson, Colton Lassiter, Quint Lassiter, Bentley Birdwell and Bryce Vaughn.

Shirley Ann Lassiter’s spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her, yet her influence and love will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

Kyle Newman Smith, passed away on August 17, 2024 at the age of 88. He was born on April 30, 1936, Kyle was known for his outgoing, friendly, and fearless personality, bringing laughter to all who knew him.

For 25 years, he owned and operated Peerless Printing, located on Dickerson Road, where his work ethic and dedication were evident. A proud member of the United States Marine Corps for seven years, Kyle embodied the values of service and commitment. His sense of humor and warm nature made him a treasured friend and mentor to many.

In addition to his successful career, Kyle was passionate about his hobbies and interests. He delighted in watching his grandson, Griffin, play soccer and basketball, taking immense pride in being called “Pop.” He also had a love for classic cars and motorcycles, spending countless hours nurturing his yard and immersing himself in the beauty of nature.

Elijah Andrew Combs, the youngest child of Paul R and Angela (Finn) Combs, came into this world on August 21, 2006, and was called away from us on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

Eli loved music, theater, literature, and the arts. Eli also had a special gift with animals, with a tender regard for the family pets, Shaq and Clementine, as well as neighborhood strays and misfits. Above all, Eli had a compassionate, generous, and forgiving heart that touched the lives of many. The void once filled by Eli’s love of others and our love in return is indescribable.

Eli was preceded by grandfathers Paul H Combs and Arthur L Tepper; and uncle Joseph F Finn. Eli is survived by loving parents Paul R Combs and Angela S Combs; siblings Paul H, Dennis M & Samantha (Austin) Combs and Eleanor G Combs; grandparents Dennis and Deborah Finn, Patricia Tepper and Lorel Combs; and numerous other loving aunts, uncles and extended family with a special affection for aunt Cristi Finn.

David was born January 17, 1957 in Huntland, TN to the late Ollie and Mary Binkley, He was a carpenter/contractor and owned his own businesss, Binkley’s Carpentry Plus. He was a master builder.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his late wife Jacquelyn “Jackie” Binkley, his sister’s Yvonne Adair, Naomi Hicks, and brother Wayne Binkley.

In Loving Memory:Obituaries August 25, 2024 - Smokey Barn News (50)Arnold Waydell Allen, age 83 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23. 2024 at Ascension St. Thomas West hospital in Nashville, with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o’clock pm, Monday, August 26th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant view with Bro. Wayne Bess officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View United Methodist cemetery with Kevan Young, Bryan Adams, Royce Copley, Greg Allen, Barry Reeder, Ricky Felts, Kevin Balthrop, and Barry Allen serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Balthrop, Steve Miller, and Rohney Boyd.

Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00PM on Monday until the hour of service at 3:00PM.

Arnold was born on October 24 1940 in Nashville, Tennessee to his parents, the late James Marvin and Dollie Mai Johnson Allen. He retired from the Service Merchandise Company after 30 years as Director of facility services. Arnold was ambitious and hard-working. He attended Nashville Tech and could do just about anything he set his mind to, including plumbing, electrical work, and tile work. He designed his own house plans. His favorite pastime and hobby was oil painting, and he has proven to be an outstanding self-taught artist. He was an avid fan of Vanderbilt football and NASCAR.

He was a member of Good Springs Free Will Baptist Church and currently attended Ashland City Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, and grandparents, Turner & Emma Harris Johnson, he is preceded in death by daughters, Regina Miller and Angela Adams; aunt, Mary Lee Ellis; uncles, J.B. Johnson, William “Bill” Johnson, Donald Johnson, and James Elmer Johnson.

In Loving Memory:Obituaries August 25, 2024 - Smokey Barn News (65)Carl Denver Kinzer, Jr. age 77 of White House passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at Skyline Medical Center. He was born September 17, 1946 In Huntington, WV to Carl Denver & Maxine Cummings Kinzer, Sr. He proudly served his country in Vietnam in the US Air Force. He worked as a sign artist and owned and operated Chipper Signs. He enjoyed fishing, boating and playing golf.

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Aot Kinzer, White House, TN; daughter, Brittany Kinzer (Steve) Hann, Bloomfield, OH; 2 grandchildren, Madison Wilson and Kaden Hann.

In Loving Memory:Obituaries August 25, 2024 - Smokey Barn News (66)Funeral service was held Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 4pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Frank Cummings officiating and with military honors. Visitation was Wednesday, ,August 21, 2024 2-4pm at the funeral home.
