Why won't my Frigidaire dishwasher start but has power? ›

If your Frigidaire dishwasher won't start but has power, sometimes a water supply issue may be the cause. These quick inspections can help rule out any problems with your water source: Make sure the water supply valve is turned on. If the valve is stuck it may need to be replaced.

Place the kick plate on the bottom of the door. Use a tape measure to ensure you have 1-inch on either side and bottom and mark these measurements with a pencil. Line-up the kick plate with these measurements and mark the screw holes to ensure your drill holes will be in the correct position. Attach the kick plate.

You will notice less water flowing into the dishwasher if the inlet valve is bad. It might not have water flowing at all. You also might hear unusual noises during the water-filling cycle. Of course, your dishes won't be as clean either.

The most common reasons your Frigidaire dishwasher has no water are a broken detergent dispenser, defective electronic control board or a clogged water valve.

The possibility of dishwasher leaks onto the kitchen floor poses a potential hazard. The majority of issues with water inlet valves can be attributed to a faulty seal or the failure of the solenoid.

Reset the Dishwasher

Turn the power off and back on. If that doesn't work, check the manufacturer's instructions for resetting the dishwasher. You may have to press and hold the start button, or unplug the machine for a minute or two. After resetting, you'll be able to start a new wash cycle.

A dishwasher's lights flashing or blinking could indicate a problem with a micro switch inside the door latch assembly. To determine if the micro switch is at fault, use a multimeter to test the switch for continuity. If the switch does not have continuity, replace it or the entire latch assembly.

A broken drain motor or a clogged drain hose can also cause standing water in your dishwasher. A stuck drain valve bracket may indicate burnt out electrical components in your dishwasher. All of these issues are better left to the professionals. Call a service technician to check it out for you.
